Class Description
Welcome to Twi for Beginners, an exciting, interactive language journey designed for children and teens who want to confidently understand and speak one of Ghana’s most widely spoken languages. In this vibrant and fun-filled class, students will: • Master Twi sounds, vowels, and phonetics • Learn to pronounce and use basic words, phrases, and number names • Explore lexical items and pronunciation skills in real-life contexts • Build the confidence to converse in Twi and understand its cultural roots This course is perfect for both total beginners and those with basic knowledge. Expect engaging activities, games, songs, and real-time speaking practice!
Class Skills Development
By the end of the Twi class, students will: • Confidently introduce themselves and hold basic conversations in Twi • Recognize and pronounce Twi vowel and consonant sounds correctly • Count and name common objects using Twi number names • Use everyday phrases, greetings, and expressions • Understand the cultural significance behind common Twi phrases and proverbs
Class Materials
Each student will receive: • A downloadable Twi Workbook with exercises, games, and fun illustrations • Access to audio practice files to improve pronunciation and listening skills • Flashcards and charts for vowels, numbers, and phrases • Mini cultural notes to connect language with Ghanaian traditions
Class Norms
• Come to class prepared with your workbook and a positive attitude • Participation is key we learn by doing, speaking, and listening • Respect everyone's learning pace; we grow together • Practice makes perfect students are encouraged to revise lessons with parents/siblings
About the Instructor
Goodness Okpoti is a passionate language enthusiast, educator, and advocate for cultural pride. She brings the Twi language to life with her warm, engaging teaching style and years of experience working with children and youth. Her approach blends fun, repetition, and cultural context to ensure students not only learn but love the Twi language.
